We’ve updated the Image Rotator widget to better support accessibility standards. Mouse-over captions now accurately reflect the content of the image and no longer imply hyperlink actions when none exist.

What’s Changed:
Captions now describe the image content clearly.
Removed misleading “Click to view…” text when images are not linked.
Enhanced screen reader compatibility for improved accessibility.

Location of Change:
This update is visible on pages using the Image Rotator widget, such as the Meet the City Commission page.

Behaviour Before the Fix
Mouse-over text displayed “Click to view {Title}” even when the image was not linked to any URL.

This behavior did not comply with WCAG accessibility guidelines and misled users into thinking the image was clickable.

Behaviour After the Fix
If both a URL and a title are set: Mouse-over text reads “Click to view {Title of the Image}”.
If only a title is set (no URL): Mouse-over text reads “{Title of the Image}”.
If no title is set: Mouse-over text reads “Rotate Image has no Title”.

This ensures that the caption accurately reflects the image content and does not imply hyperlink functionality when none exists.

This change improves accessibility and clarity for all users, especially those using screen readers. It aligns with WCAG best practices by ensuring that mouse-over text describes the image content rather than suggesting an action that may not be available.

During this maintenance window, Communications Cloud and Targeted Messaging Service will be temporarily unavailable. This update is designed to resolve the issue that has impacted transactional message throughput over the past several days.

What you can expect:
No access to Communications Cloud or TMS during the maintenance window.
Transactional Email sending will resume immediately following the update.
No action is required from your teams.
